Homeopathy - Part II

Homeopathy is another type of alternative medicine. This therapy is based on the belief that if large quantities of certain substances cause symptoms of sickness in a healthy individual, then, very small doses of that certain substance can help treat the symptoms by stimulating the innate ability of the body to heal itself.

The term of homeopathy comes from Greek words which means "homoios" or similar and "pathos" meaning suffering.

Generally, homeopathic remedies are small vials of small white pellets which come from animals, plants and mineral extracts. The original extract will undergo the process of potentization until there are only few molecules left of the original substance. It is a common belief in homeopathy that the more it undergoes the process of dilution, the more potent it will be. Remedies that are available in homeopathy are in liquid, tablet and pellet forms.

Homeopathy is already been used and accredited in the United States. In fact, the U.S Congress in 1938 had passed a law requiring that homeopathic therapy medications are should be under the regulation of FDA, the same way that non-prescription drugs does.

In 1988, FDA required that all homeopathic remedies give the information on the labels the ingredients, dilutions and the instructions for proper usage of the remedies.

If you are planning to have homeopathic remedies, it is recommended that you ask first your medical health provider if it is advisable to your condition particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
